The phase 4 measurement started in March 2015 and ended in June 2016. During this phase, children’s health and development were measured at age 11. In addition, ABCD children and their mothers, fathers and teachers received a questionnaire. The children were also asked to complete three short tests.

Child questionnaire

During the phase 4 measurement, we asked for the first time whether the child himself or herself wanted to fill in a questionnaire. The questions included eating and sleeping behaviour and mobile phone use. Children who completed the questionnaire via computer were also asked to play a game on the computer, which tested their risk assessment.

Parent questionnaire

In phase 4, we  asked for information from the father for the first time. The questions were focused on the health and behaviour of the father and his child. Should the child no longer see his or her father regularly, the mother’s new partner was asked to complete the questionnaire. As in previous years, we also asked the mother to complete a questionnaire on the health and behaviour of the mother and her child.

Teacher questionnaire / Tests at school

Like 5 years before, we also asked the teacher to complete a questionnaire on the child’s school performance (CITO) and behaviour at school. We also asked the teacher to let the child take two tests on the computer at school. The first test was an intelligence test, the second a working memory test.

Physical measurements In 2015-2016, over 1,000 children participated in physical measurements. Below is a brief summary of the physical measurements:
