Researcher Siyu Zhou awarded

Back to overview

ABCD researcher Siyu Zhou presented her research findings on early influences on menstrual complaints at ISCOMS Groningen.

In the plenary session, Siyu showed that poor sleep quality at ages 15–16 is associated with more severe menstrual pain in young adulthood. This highlights the importance of prevention during puberty. Siyu also demonstrated that a higher maternal BMI before pregnancy increases the risk of menstrual pain in daughters in the ABCD study, partly explained by a higher BMI during puberty and an earlier age of menstruation onset.

Siyu won two awards at this conference: the ‘First Year Jury Plenary Award’ and the ‘Presentation Session Winner Award in Public Health’. Congratulations on this recognition! 🥇👏
